From Code to Companies: My Path as a Founder

Early days (prior to 2001)

I started in the corporate world, programming front ends, databases, and telephony systems for companies like MetLife, Deloitte, Dell, and Kenneth Cole. I worked on enterprise platforms using HTML, ASP, and SQL Server, and gained real-world experience managing teams, delivering projects, and leading cross-functional initiatives. These early years laid the foundation for how I operate in business today - with a focus on execution, accountability, and adaptability. It was in this environment that I developed my obsession with systems thinking, project management, and doing what it takes to deliver results at a high level.

This is where I learned how to deliver. Corporate taught me how to lead teams, manage big systems, and never miss a deadline. It shaped my ‘get it done and own it’ mindset.

2001 through 2011

Leaving corporate, I launched a real estate investment business focused on flipping distressed properties. I quickly scaled to multiple projects running simultaneously. To improve efficiency, I started a construction company to handle all renovations in-house. This gave me control over timelines, quality, and cost. When the housing crash hit, I adapted - scaling back, closing the construction arm, and focusing on fewer but higher-margin flips using subcontractors. This era sharpened my skills in marketing, deal structure, and financial management, and taught me how to build, operate, and pivot in a constantly changing market.

This is where I learned how to generate leads, manage risk, and build systems from scratch. I went from writing code to writing contracts. It taught me how to market, how to negotiate, and how to adapt when everything changes.

2007 through 2025

L4 Group began when fellow contractors asked how I was generating leads online. While still flipping houses, I started building websites and digital campaigns to help others grow. What began as a side hustle turned into a full-time business. I took on clients across industries - dentists, spas, contractors -before focusing on the energy and home services sectors. That shift to specialization became a major turning point. It allowed me to build repeatable systems, improve results, and make a real impact for my clients while scaling L4 Group into a high-performance digital marketing agency.

The turning point was realizing that specialization wasn’t limiting, it was scaling. By niching down, I could deliver real results, build systems that worked, and become a true partner to my clients.

In 2025, I merged L4 Group with Andrew Maderia’s agency, Maderia Group, to form Navara Marketing. We’d been working together since 2017, sharing clients, collaborating on strategy, and integrating our teams. By the time we merged, over 90% of our client portfolios overlapped. Combining our companies brought clarity and scale. Navara now delivers high-impact marketing solutions to oil, gas, HVAC, and home service businesses across the U.S. This new chapter is focused on growing smarter, delivering results faster, and building a team culture rooted in trust, transparency, and long-term client success.

The right partnerships change everything. When values align and trust is strong, collaboration doesn’t just work - it accelerates growth.

2024 - Present

In 2024, my wife Colleen and I co-founded bluSONIL, a longevity, wellness, and regenerative aesthetics company with national aspirations from day one. We're blending Colleen’s extensive experience in scaling profitable brick-and-mortar locations for iconic brands with my background in marketing, brand building, and business development. bluSONIL reflects our shared passion for healthspan > lifespan. We’re creating something the U.S. market hasn't seen: a brand that unites longevity science, aesthetic innovation, and best-in-class hospitality in a single, elevated experience.

2025 & Beyond

The journey is far from over. I continue to run Navara Marketing and bluSONIL, while incubating new brands and ventures behind the scenes. A podcast, book, and speaking engagements are on the horizon, and my passion for real estate remains strong. I’m still investing nationwide. At Navara, we’re doubling down on innovation to serve oil, gas, and home service businesses with even more powerful, strategic marketing. And bluSONIL is just getting started, backed by a world-class founding team and a bold vision for reshaping longevity and aesthetics in the U.S.

Life gets more rewarding the more you build. Starting companies, investing, forming real partnerships - it all creates momentum. Security comes not from playing it safe, but from owning your path.

Family Is the Foundation

At the heart of everything I’ve built is my family.

I’ve been married to the love of my life, Colleen, since 1992. She’s not only my partner in life, but now also my partner in business. Together, we’ve raised two incredible kids, Abbey and Jack, who are now carving their own paths as young adults.

Entrepreneurship gave me one of the things I value most: time. I never missed a school concert, play, or game. Both Abbey and Jack were active in the school band, and Abbey also took the stage in theater productions. I was there for every performance cheering them on, no matter the role or the scoreboard. I coached their youth sports, and continued coaching high school lacrosse until Jack went off to play in college. At that point, I traded my spot on the sideline for a seat in the stands, traveling to Boston to watch him play in person.

We’ve always prioritized experiences over things. From annual family trips to the Outer Banks, to international adventures, travel has been one of our greatest shared joys. Most recently, we chartered a sailboat in the Exumas and spent a week living, sailing, and laughing together around the islands.

Those are the moments that matter most.
And they’re why I build what I build.
